About Me

About Me

Who’s SG Finance Guy?

I’m just a chill guy.
Unbothered. Moisturized. Flourishing.
Not entirely happy though, because contrary to popular belief, money can buy you happiness, and I don’t have enough of that yet.
Okay, jokes aside, I’m your typical millennial living in Singapore trying my darnedest to figure out adulting. I’m in my early 30’s and work in marketing.
Much like many other Singaporean guys that recently entered their 30’s, I suffer from back pain, fell in love with playing pickleball on the weekends and have recently developed an inexplicable urge to register for the next Standard Chartered marathon.
My favorite past-times include playing video games, hitting the gym and cursing the local education system for not equipping me with essential adulting knowledge (but hey, at least we know Pythagora’s theorem, right?)
Oh, and most importantly, the cai fan auntie always calls me shuai ge. If there’s one thing you must takeaway from this lengthy introduction about me, it’s that. Very important hor.

I want to be financially independent by 40.

I’ve learned from my time in the corporate world that everybody is dispensable. Companies will not hesitate to cut headcount to ensure growing profits to appease investors. It doesn’t matter how good you are at your job. How much effort you put in.
At the end of the day, you’re just a number to them.
This means that as long as your paycheck is your only income stream, your livelihood will always be at the mercy of others.
And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in constant worry and paranoia that I might lose my rice bowl out of nowhere next month.
My goal is to make good investments and financial choices so I can secure my future at a young age. That will give me the freedom of choice to pursue whatever I want, whenever I want. If this sounds like something you want too, consider following my journey and growing together!

What kind of content will I be posting?

My content will revolve around 4 broad categories and me trying my best to ace them. I like to think of these 4 categories as the “pillars” of finance. Do all of these 4 well, and early retirement isn’t a distant pipe dream.
Here’s a simple illustration of these 4 pillars, and examples of their respective topics.
